Amanda Seyfried has talked about her role as Linda Lovelace.

Seyfried portrays the infamous adult film star – real name Linda Boreman – in the upcoming biopic Lovelace, also starring Peter Sarsgaard, Sharon Stone, Adam Brody and Juno Temple.

Prior to taking on the role, Seyfriend only knew about Lovelace as a porn star who became famous for “being able to deep throat really well”. After directors Rob Epstein and Jeff Friedman showed the actress a huge collection of research and photographs as well as footage, Seyfried was “blown away”.”I found it fascinating that the idea of her, it’s all very much a general idea of who she is based on the fact that she was a porn star,” she told Collider. “But she wasn’t really a porn star, she wanted to be an actress and she had a really intense, violent relationship with her husband and her husband essentially just coerced her into this world and she was exploited and she was left with essentially nothing.

“I think that’s amazing – I think that’s not what people expect to hear at all. She tried so hard to be heard and I felt like that’s part of the reason I wanted to make this.

“It was a weird era. It was the sexual revolution and porn was not what it is today. It’s all a very interesting story and I think it is really well done. You give the audience that idea, you validate their general idea of her, and then you slide in the reality.”

Lovelace was recently screened at the Sundance Film Festival on January 22. No release date has yet been announced.

With three big movies slated for theatrical release before year’s end, Amanda Seyfried was tapped for a feature included in the Summer 2012 issue of Total Film magazine.

The alluring 26-year-old actress is shown striking a seductive pose in a shot accompanying a brief article focused on her recently-wrapped Biodrama “Lovelace”.

Along with calling her “Lovelace” co-star Peter Sarsgaard “the best actor I’ve ever worked with,” Miss Seyfried had an interesting comment about her time researching for the lead role as porn star turned activist Linda Lovelace.

“What surprised me is the amount of pubic hair!” Amanda exclaimed [laughing] before making it clear that – despite the subject matter – she’ll “never do full frontal in a movie.”

Also starring James Franco, Wes Bentley, Chloë Sevigny, Sarah Jessica Parker and Sharon Stone, “Lovelace” is co-directed by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman while still yet to nail down an official debut date.

Amanda Seyfried may be best known for her role as a ditzy blonde in Mean Girls or a sweet, love-struck student in Dear John, but she’ll prove her versatility in Gone (in theaters this weekend) and Lovelace (later this year). The actress sat down with Hit Fix to discuss her upcoming roles.

In Gone, Seyfried stars as a young woman who escapes a serial killer, though cops believe her story to be fictional, who is left to rescue her own sister that she believes has been kidnapped by the same person.

When asked why she was interested in such a different part she responded:

You need to cut what everybody thinks of you and diversify as much as possible… I love these movies. It’s my favorite genre. It’s why I go to the theater.

As for her other upcoming project, Lovelace, she states that there are “no connections” between the two movies but that it was “really fun stepping into someone’s shoes, especially if they existed in real life.” Seyfried will play famous and tragic porn star, Linda Lovelace, alongside James Franco. Movie-goers will even get to hear her sing again — this being her first big screen vocal performance since Mama Mia! in 2008.

After Demi Moore had to drop out of “Lovelace” last month, there were many rumors about who would replace her as Gloria Steinem in the biopic about porn star Linda Lovelace. The production finally settled on Sarah Jessica Parker, who agreed to cameo in the film following a personal plea from star Amanda Seyfried.

“One day, I was like, ‘Listen, what can I do? You keep throwing around names, but who do we really want?’” Seyfried told Moviefone while promoting her new film, “Gone,” which hits theaters on Feb. 24. “They were like, ‘Sarah Jessica Parker.’ I was like ‘Yes, please. Where is she? What is she doing?’ So I called her agent, whom I’ve never met and asked, ‘What can we do to get her involved? We have three days. We need her.’ And I emailed her that day and she was on a plane three days later. And she was incredible. She’s so good. I’m so grateful that she came in. I wish she’d been there for longer.”

Despite her happiness that Parker was able to play the venerable Ms. magazine co-founder, Seyfried was saddened by Moore’s departure.

“It was a really hard situation because Demi had worked really hard and she was so prepared and so ready and nobody expected her to not be able to do it — she didn’t either. I knew she wanted to do it, but she knew she had to take care of herself. It’s hard when you’re pulling for someone, but they can’t do it and you have to substitute them. We needed Gloria Steinem in this movie, she was a huge part of Linda’s life and such a huge icon.”

Seyfried said that Parker is “amazing” in “Lovelace,” which also features a cameo from James Franco as Hugh Hefner.

“He came, just in and out in one day. He’s really good at embodying different people. He’s certainly a character actor in my opinion. I remember him sitting in the trailer and just listening on the headphones to Hef talking. He’s really good at mimicking things and it’s really important when you come in for just one day and just whip it out. It’s really impressive.”

Whip it out?

“He didn’t actually… oh wait, yes, Hef… no pun intended. There was some whipping,” she laughed.
